Frequently Asked Questions

  • I use The Chicago Manual of Style (17th ed.), which is considered the industry standard in US book publishing.

  • Project cost is based on the type of editing requested, manuscript condition, and word count.

  • Depending on my schedule, I am able to accept some rush jobs for an additional fee.

  • I send invoices via QuickBooks. Payment terms will be detailed in the contract.

  • Deliverables vary by editing service. All clients will receive a marked-up manuscript. Edits and comments are made using MS Word's Track Changes feature, so you can accept or disregard any of my suggestions as you see fit. Copyediting clients will also receive a style sheet and editorial letter.

  • A style sheet helps maintain consistency throughout the manuscript (and any future books in a series) by tracking preferences for formatting, style, and spelling.

  • Editors are humans, and humans are not perfect. But I strive to edit all manuscripts to the highest standard.
